Training comprehension test/exams can be assigned to training items. If a training comprehension exam is assigned to a training item, users can be required to complete the exam before signing off on a training item.



The Comprehension section of the Training Administrator contains the following pages:
Page Description
Comprehension Search Provides training item search and links to create/modify comprehension exams for training items
Comprehension Setup/Creation Allows you to create a comprehension exam.
User Exam Allows users to take, update, and delete a comprehension exam
User Results Displays user exam results for a given training comprehension exam
User Grading Allows users to grade a user comprehension exam

Separate Training Comprehension permissions are required for users to be able to modify and grade comprehension exams.


Selecting the Comprehension tab of the Navigation Pane will display the Comprehension Search page.



The Comprehension Search page will list all training items. You can search on the results fields by specifying the search field and value.



Once the field and search value are specified, clicking the Apply button will update the results list.



The Actions column will display items (with an icon) that contain comprehension exams.



The Actions column will contain editing links for users with Comprehension editing permissions.



Action links:
Action Description
View/Modify Invokes the Comprehension Setup/Creation Page to view and modify the comprehension exam
Copy Places the Comprehension Exam information in a session buffer (to be used to Paste to other training items)
Delete Deletes the comprehension exam
Create Invokes the Comprehension Setup/Creation Page to create a comprehension exam for the training item
Paste Assigns the Comprehension exam associated with the item in the copy buffer


Clicking the View/Modify, Create, or Paste links will invoke the Comprehension Setup/Creation Page.

To create a comprehension exam for a training item, click the Create or View Modify links on the Comprehension Search Page.



The Comprehension Setup/Creation Page contains the following key areas:

Comprehension Page Links Allows you to navigate to the various pages of the comprehension module
General Information Allows you to set/modify a comprehension title and description as well as define the required status of the exam
Questions and Answers List Allows you to define the questions and answers for the exam

The Comprehension Page Links provide the following links:

Comprehension Search Returns you to the Comprehension Search Page
Comprehension Setup Allows you to define exam questions and answers
User Results Allows you to view and grade the user results for this exam


General Information and Exam Requirements
The General Information displays the training item and revision.



The Required field will indicate whether or not all users must take the exam before they are allowed to sign off on the training item. If comprehension is required, users will be alerted that they need to complete the exam before signing off on the training item.



To define if comprehension is required or not is assigned on the General page of the training form in Desktop. You can launch the Training form by clicking the training name hyperlink.





Questions and Answers
The Questions and Answers List allows you to define the comprehension exam questions, question types, and answers.



To add a question, click the Add Question button.



From the Add Question dialog box, you will be able to set the question and type. Note: when defining a question, you can define the question type to be either a Multiple Choice or Essay/Text field.



When adding or editing a question you can set the Answer field.



The answer is not shown to the user when they are taking the exam. The field simply provides a guide to those grading the exam.

When specifying a multiple choice question, you can define answer options by clicking the Answers hyperlink.



To define answer options, define the answer option in the New Value field and click the Add button. Note: you can define multiple values using a semi-colon as a delimiter. Once all answer options are defined, click the OK button.



Once all question, question type, answer options, and answers have been defined, click the Save Settings button to store the values.



Desktop Training Form
Comprehension example can also be created from the Training item form in Omnify Desktop. Each Training form will contain a Comprehension tab.



Clicking the Comprehension tab will display the question from an assigned comprehension exam.



For users with permission to create/modify comprehension exams the Setup/Modify Comprehension toolbar button will be enabled.



Clicking the toolbar button will redirect the user to the Comprehension Setup page of the Training Administrator
The Training form (in Omnify Desktop) will contain a Comprehension tab.



Clicking the Comprehension tab will display the question from an assigned comprehension exam.



For users who are active for signoff on the training, the Take Test toolbar button will be enabled.



For users with permission to create/modify comprehension exams the Setup/Modify Comprehension toolbar button will be enabled.



For users with permission to grade user's exams the Grade Users toolbar button will be enabled.



If comprehension is required, users will be alerted that they need to complete the exam before signing off on the training item.



To take the exam, click the Take Test toolbar button.



Users will then be able to assign answers for each question.



Once all answers have been provided click the Save toolbar button to submit your answers.



If you do not wish to submit your answers click the Cancel toolbar button.



If you have submitted your answers, the User Response, Grade, and Grader Notes columns will be visible.



You can clear any previous response by clicking the Clear Responses toolbar button.


You can view the users who have taken the exam (and their results) by searching for the training item from the Comprehension Search page and then clicking the View/Modify hyperlink.



This invokes the Comprehension Setup/Creation Page. To view the users and their results, click the User Results link.



The User Results list will display all users who have taken the exam.



The user results/grading will be provided for all user exams that have been graded.



To view (or grade) a user's exam responses, click the View/Grade hyperlink.



You can view the users who have taken the exam (and their results) by searching for the training item from the Comprehension Search page and then clicking the View/Modify hyperlink.



This invokes the Comprehension Setup/Creation Page. To view the users and their results, click the User Results link.



The User Results list will display all users who have taken the exam.



To grade a user's exam, click the View/Grade hyperlink.



This will invoke the User Grading Page.



The User Grading Page will display the user's response to all questions.



You can provide a pass/fail indicator and notes for each response. Note: the Answer field provides a guide for the correct answers.



You can also define an overall grade (open text field) to the user exam as well as an overall pass/fail setting.



To assign the grade, click the Save Grade button. Note: the user grading can be revised at any point after the initial assignment.
