Overview |
System administrators can modify options for the BOM Routing module to control default settings, how the system reads/uses BOMs, and document loading options for the Operation Viewer.
To set/modify these options you will need to use the Omnify Administrator.
The BOM Routing options section will contains the following sections:
Operation Fields |
Allows you to define custom operation fields |
Sequence Fields |
Allows you to define custom sequence fields |
Sequence Item Fields |
Allows you to define custom BOM item fields |
Options |
Allows you to set various advanced and default options for operations, sequences, and the Operation Viewer |

BOM Item Options |

The Options page of the Administrator contains a BOM Items section that allows you to define how the system will handle BOM child items and sub-assemblies.
When displaying and validating BOMs, the Routing module can be configured to ignore or include (some or all) sub-assemblies and BOM child items.
The BOM Items section allows you to define the BOM loading rules.
Ignore Items Rules allow you to define how all child items are handled.
Sub-Assembly Rules allow you to define how child items that contain assemblies are handled.
When defining an Ignore Rule for all child items on a BOM, you can use the following fields:
• Item Type |
• Item Category |
• Item Status |
• Item Attribute |
• BOM Quantity |
• BOM Level |
• BOM Attribute |
To add an ignore rule, select the field type and then specify the field name (if necessary) and field value to be ignored.
Click the < Add button to assign the rule.
To remove a rule, select the rule from the Ignore rules list and click the Remove > button.
The Sub-Assembly Rules option allows you to set the following rules:
Include All |
Includes all sub-assembly items (complete BOM hierarchy) |
Ignore All |
Displays only Level 1 items |
Ignore Based on Rules |
Only ignores sub-assembly items that meet define criteria |
Include Based on Rules |
Only includes sub-assembly items that meet define criteria |
When using the Ignore Based on Rules and Include Based on Rules setting, the rules options will be enabled.
When defining an Ignore Rule for Sub-Assemblies, you can use the following fields:
• Item Type |
• Item Category |
• Item Status |
• Item Attribute |
• BOM Quantity |
• BOM Level |
• BOM Attribute |
To add an ignore rule, select the field type and then specify the field name (if necessary) and field value to be ignored.
Click the < Add button to assign the rule.

Each sequence can contain associated Omnify items.
Associated items can be used to display attributes/parameters and documents that describe all necessary data for each operation/step.
When a sequence contains an associated item, the item will appear in the Association section of the viewer.
The Options page of the Administrator contains a Viewer Documents section that allows you to define how the system will find/display documents in the Operation Viewer.
In this example, we have set the Operations Viewer to extract documents of Type: Assembly Images.
When a user selects a sequence that contains an associated item:
The system loads the documents that match the set criteria.
Those files/images will then be displayed in the Operations Viewer.
Note: the documents to be displayed should be documents that can
be displayed in a web browser (JPEG, GIF, PNG, etc.)
