Items in the Omnify database can have an unlimited number of attributes/parameters. Attributes can represent any type of characteristic required to define an item in the database. Attributes can be defined as text, numeric, or date/time data types.

The Attributes Option page will display a list of all of the currently available attributes in the Omnify database.

You can define attribute fields for:
  • Items/Parts/BOMs
  • Changes/ECOs
  • Vendor Parts
  • BOMs
  • Service Objects
  • Projects
  • Corrective/Preventive Actions
  • Training Objects

To modify available attribute fields for Items, select the Item/Part/BOM Attributes option from the Options list.





Attributes defined in this list will be available when modifying the item within Desktop (Attributes page).



Adding Attributes
To add a new attribute field, click the Add button on the toolbar. This will display the New Attribute dialog box.



From the New Attribute dialog box you will be able to assign the following fields:

Field/Option Description
Name Specify a unique name for the attribute
Description Description of attribute
Field Type Option are Text, Numeric, or Date/Time
Value Type Option are User Edit - (User can specify any value), Pick List - (User must select from defined list of values), or Multiple Values - (User can select one of more values from defined list)
Rows For User Edit type fields, this will define the number of rows displayed in the edit box for values

Notes:
• The length limit for attribute values is 1024 characters.
• To define values for Pick List and Multiple Value fields, you must first create the attribute field.

To create the Attribute, click the Add or Apply button.



To close/cancel the dialog box, click the Close button or Add Attribute toolbar button.

Modifying Attributes
To edit/modify the properties for any attribute, click the Edit hyperlink in the Actions column. This will invoke the Edit Attribute dialog box (under the toolbar).



To modify the field, specify the new field values and then click the Update button.

Field Values
You can define values for Pick List and Multiple Value fields by clicking the Set Values hyperlink in the Actions column.



This will launch the Field Values dialog box.



To add values, type the new value in the New Value field and then click the Add button.



Note: you can specify multiple values to be added at once using a semi-colon as a delimiter.





To remove values, select the entries in the Values list and click the Remove button.





You can change the order by selecting the entries and clicking the Move Up and Move Down buttons.



You can sort the list alphabetically by clicking the Sort button.



Removing Attributes
To remove an attribute, click the Remove hyperlink from the Actions column.



You will be asked to verify the removal.


To modify available attribute fields for Vendor Items, select the Vendor Item Attributes option from the Options list.





Attributes defined in this list will be available when modifying the vendor item within Desktop (Attributes page).

To modify available attribute fields for BOM items, select the BOM Attributes option from the Options list.



Attributes enabled/defined on this page will be available when adding/editing BOM items (Parts List page).





You can define up to 4 different attribute fields. To enable a BOM attribute field, specify an attribute name in the Name column.



Then click the Enable checkbox.



When defining the attribute, you can define the field value type to be either User Edit or Pick List.



Once the fields are defined, click the Save Settings toolbar button.



For Pick List fields, you can define the field values by clicking the Set Values hyperlink.



This will launch the Field Values dialog box.



To add values, type the new value in the New Value field and then click the Add button.



Note: you can specify multiple values to be added at once using a semi-colon as a delimiter.





To remove values, select the entries in the Values list and click the Remove button.





You can change the order by selecting the entries and clicking the Move Up and Move Down buttons.



You can sort the list alphabetically by clicking the Sort button.


To modify available attribute fields for Service Objects, select the Service Object Attributes option from the Options list.



Attributes enabled/defined on this page will be available when adding/editing Service Object items (Attributes page).





You can define up to 8 different attribute fields. To enable an attribute field, specify an attribute name in the Name column.



Then click the Enable checkbox.



When defining the attribute, you can define the field value type to be either User Edit or Pick List.



Once the fields are defined, click the Save Settings toolbar button.



For Pick List fields, you can define the field values by clicking the Set Values hyperlink.



This will launch the Field Values dialog box.



To add values, type the new value in the New Value field and then click the Add button.

To remove values, select the entries in the Values list and click the Remove button.





You can change the order by selecting the entries and clicking the Move Up and Move Down buttons.

To modify available attribute fields for Vendors, select the Vendor Attributes option from the Options list.



Attributes enabled/defined on this page will be available when adding/editing Vendors (General page).





You can define up to 10 different attribute fields. To enable an attribute field, specify an attribute name in the Name column.



Then click the Enable checkbox.



When defining the attribute, you can define the field value type to be either User Edit or Pick List.



Once the fields are defined, click the Save Settings toolbar button.



For Pick List fields, you can define the field values by clicking the Set Values hyperlink.

The Attribute Groups section allows you to create Attribute Groups to be used as filters on the Attributes page of the Object forms.



To create a new Attribute Group, select the Add Group button. This will present the New Group dialog box.



When creating the group, you will need to specify a name and object/data type.



Click the Apply or Add button to create the new group.



Once the Group is created (or selected from the list), the list will display the current attribute assigned to that group.



To add an attribute to the group, select the attribute(s) from Available Attributes list and then click the > button.



The selected attributes will now appear in the Attributes in Group list.



You can remove the attribute fields by selecting the fields in the Attributes in Group list and using the < buttons.



You can reorder the attribute fields by selecting the fields in the Attributes in Group list and using the Move Up and Move Down buttons.



Attribute Groups will be available on the Attributes page of the Item master form.
