The BOM Routing module provides customizable fields for Operations and sequences to define parameters and additional information for classification and reporting purposes.

The Routing Fields page allows you to modify the following:

 • Operation Fields
 • Sequence Fields
 • Sequence Item Fields

You can change the data set by selecting an available option in the drop list.

The Operation Fields page allows you to create custom fields that can be assigned to each BOM Routing operation. To modify custom fields, select the Operation Fields option from the drop list.

Custom fields created on this page will appear on the Operations page of the Routing form.

To enable a custom field, specify a field name in the Name column.

Then click the Enable checkbox.

When defining the field, you can define the field value type to be either User Edit or Pick List.

Once the fields are defined, click the Save Settings toolbar button.

For Pick List fields, you can define the field values by clicking the Set Values hyperlink.

This will launch the Field Values dialog box.

To add values, type the new value in the New Value field and then click the Add button.

Note: you can specify multiple values to be added at once using a semi-colon as a delimiter.

To remove values, select the entries in the Values list and click the Remove button.

You can change the order by selecting the entries and clicking the Move Up and Move Down buttons.

You can sort the list alphabetically by clicking the Sort button.

The Sequence Fields page allows you to create custom fields that can be assigned to each BOM Routing sequence. To modify custom fields, select the Sequence Fields option from the drop list.

Custom fields created on this page will appear on the Sequences page of the Routing form.

The Sequence Item Fields page allows you to create custom fields that can be assigned to each BOM Routing sequence. To modify custom fields, select the Sequence Item Fields option from the drop list.

Custom fields created on this page will appear on the BOM Items page of the Routing form.

The Options page contains various options to determine default behavior for Routing Operations and Sequences as well as options for including/excluding BOM items.

Operations Options
The Operations section provides the following options:

Area Description
Default operation name prefix Sets the default operation prefix (name)
Default start number Sets the default operation number (name)
Default increment Sets the default increment number

These options will set the default settings on the Operations Page when the user is adding new operations.

Sequences Options
The Sequences section provides the following options:

Area Description
Default sequence name prefix Sets the default sequence prefix (name)
Default start number Sets the default sequence number (name)
Default increment Sets the default increment number

These options will set the default settings on the Sequences Page when the user is adding new operations.

BOM Items Options
The BOM Items section allows you to define how the system will handle BOM child items and sub-assemblies for Routings.

When displaying and validating BOMs, the Routing module can be configured to ignore or include (some or all) sub-assemblies and BOM child items. The BOM Items section allows you to define the BOM loading rules. Ignore Items Rules allow you to define how all child items are handled. Sub-Assembly Rules allow you to define how child items that contain assemblies are handled.

Ignoring BOM Items
When defining an Ignore Rule for all child items on a BOM, you can use the following fields:
• Item Type
• Item Category
• Item Status
• Item Attribute
• BOM Quantity
• BOM Level
• BOM Attribute

To add an ignore rule, select the field type and then specify the field name (if necessary) and field value to be ignored.

Click the < Add button to assign the rule.

To remove a rule, select the rule from the Ignore rules list and click the Remove > button.

Sub-Assembly Rules

The Sub-Assembly Rules option allows you to set the following rules:

Rule/Setting Description
Include All Includes all sub-assembly items (complete BOM hierarchy)
Ignore All Displays only Level 1 items
Ignore Based on Rules Only ignores sub-assembly items that meet the defined criteria
Include Based on Rules Only includes sub-assembly items that meet the defined criteria

When using the Ignore Based on Rules and Include Based on Rules setting, the rules options will be enabled.

When defining an Ignore Rule for Sub-Assemblies, you can use the following fields:
• Item Type
• Item Category
• Item Status
• Item Attribute
• BOM Quantity
• BOM Level
• BOM Attribute

To add an ignore rule, select the field type and then specify the field name (if necessary) and field value to be ignored.

Click the < Add button to assign the rule.
