Business Units provide you with a way to identify users and items with a specific product group, organization unit, etc. for searching or classification purposes. Users can be assigned to only one Business Unit; however, you can apply multiple Business Units to an item.
Business Units can be assigned to Users, Items, Changes/ECOs, Projects, and CAPA objects. When creating or modifying a user (in the Administrator), you can assign a business unit to the user from the User Information dialog box.

When creating or modifying an Item, Change, Project, and/or CAPA object (in Desktop), you can assign a business unit to the item on the General Information page of the form.

Business Units can be used as a parameter/condition when defining workflow mappings.

To add a Business Unit, click the Add Unit toolbar button.

When adding a Business Unit you can specify the following:

Field/Option Description
Name Business Unit name/label
Description Description of Business Unit

To add the Business Unit, specify the name, and then click the Add Unit button.
To remove a Business Unit, click the Remove hyperlink from the Actions column.
